Raj PSP vs Shala Darpan: Which Portal for Private Schools?

Private schools in Rajasthan use Raj PSP (rajpsp.nic.in), not Shala Darpan. Shala Darpan manages government and government-aided schools. Raj PSP manages non-government private schools — mainly RTE free admissions and the fee reimbursement that follows. Two portals, two audiences, one common mix-up.

Both run under the Rajasthan Department of School Education, which is why the names get swapped so often. The difference comes down to one thing: who owns the school.

Integrated Shala Darpan (rajshaladarpan.rajasthan.gov.in) is the state’s Education Management Information System (EMIS), built by NIC Rajasthan and managed by the Rajasthan Council of School Education (RCSE), Jaipur. It tracks around 65,000 government schools, 8 million students, and 4 lakh staff from Class 1 to Class 12.

A government school principal uses it for student enrolment, transfer certificates, result entry, and staff records. A government teacher uses Staff Login for leave, service book, and salary tracking. Parents use the Citizen Window to search schools and check scholarships — no login needed.

Private schools have no role here. If you opened Shala Darpan to register a private school or apply for RTE, you reached the wrong portal.

What Raj PSP Covers

Raj PSP — the Private School Portal at rajpsp.nic.in — is the official platform for non-government schools in Rajasthan. Its core job is the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

Under Section 12(1)(c), every private unaided school must reserve 25% of entry-level seats — pre-primary and Class 1 — for children from weaker sections and disadvantaged groups, and teach them free up to Class 8. Raj PSP runs that whole cycle: school registration (PSP code), the parent application, the online lottery, allotment, and the government fee reimbursement paid back to schools.

For the 2026-27 session, online RTE applications opened on 20 February 2026, and the lottery result was published on rajpsp.nic.in in March. Parents can apply on the portal or through the Rajasthan Private School mobile app, using the child’s Aadhaar and Jan Aadhaar for verification.

The portal also holds private school recognition data — profile, infrastructure, fees, and staff details — and supports Fee Act 2016 (SLFC) compliance.

• You’re a parent seeking a free seat: Use Raj PSP for RTE admission in a private school. Apply during the announced window, then track the lottery and allotment on rajpsp.nic.in.
• You’re a government teacher or a parent of a government-school child: Use Shala Darpan. Logins, results, and scholarships all sit there.

Clearing the Most Common Confusion

The mix-up is a naming problem, not a portal problem. Both sites carry “Rajasthan,” both end in .nic.in or .gov.in, and both deal with schools. The rule that settles it: ownership decides the portal. Government-funded school goes to Shala Darpan. Privately owned school goes to Raj PSP.

One more point worth knowing: a private school stays on Raj PSP even for its RTE students. Those children study in a private school, so their free-seat records, attendance, and fee claims live on Raj PSP — never on Shala Darpan.
